My Cluttered Desk and Your Cluttered Life

travelingdixie.com

I went in my office this morning and realized it is so messy I can’t even sit in there and work comfortably. I moved all the furniture in the center of the room as I will be painting the walls.

With that said there’s no excuse for my the mess on my desk. I can’t even sit my laptop on my desk without knocking something over or having to push papers to the side.

No wonder I am always on my couch with my computer! It really makes my job of blogging more difficult at the same time stressful by working in there. If I cleaned up my desk, I could get things done.

Like my desk, there are situations in our lives where if we just cleaned up our messes we created for ourselves, we could be more productive and less stressed out. Easier said than done I know but think about how much easier things would be.

What is holding you back from being successful? Think about the ”junk” in your life. Here are a couple of things that could clutter your life and slow you down from reaching your goals.

1. Negative People

Anyone from family telling you that your dream is ridiculous, friends not taking you serious when you tell them about any plans you have, to co workers not believing in your abilities at work are negative people. A sit down with these people explaining how important their support is to your success is vital. Also letting them know if the negativity doesn’t stop you will have to avoid them (yes that includes family).

Surrounding yourself with positive and like-minded people will do wonders for your success. Networking with others can open a wide choice of people who can help you reach your goals you set for yourself. Ridding yourself of negative people is the most effective way to de-clutter your life and put you on the right track.

2.Money

Several studies have shown money is on of the most stressful aspect of people lives. The lack of money for bills and even rent is clear in today’s society as the recession rages on. According to a survey by American Psychological Association, 80 percent of people label the recent financial crisis a significant cause of stress

So how can you “de-clutter” this desk and reduce stress? Well if you are lacking money most likely it is due to the amount of debt. Starting a budget is the most recommended tip because there is money you could be applying towards a bill. It’s just hidden in the bottom of those Starbucks coffees you drink every morning.

There are many ways to save money. Turning off your cable for a while, renting movies at home instead of at the theatre, and cooking at nice meal at home instead of dining out are just 3 of a million ways you can cut cost within your budget. The more you save the faster you can cut your debt and feel a lot better about your situation.

Clean Up Your Act

There are many more things that can cause you to become less productive or unhappy in life than those listed above. Like my desk, cleaning things up will create an environment that is welcoming to you and make you into a more efficient and happier person. Identify what causes you the most grief and make every attempt to erase it from your mind.
