20 Ways to Relax and Reduce Stress

Trying to make it through the day sometimes can be tough. No one is exempt from having a stressful period of time. Look at this cat here. Do you think he had a rough day today? Running around chasing mice all day and not having enough furniture to scratch up can make things stressful for this cat.

What about you? Rough day at the job? How about when you got home, was the children behaving? Can’t seem to get a day off due to a demanding job and busy schedule? I know how that feels but somehow you have to keep from going insane like this cat by finding ways to relax and let off some steam.

 

1.When you get up in the morning say something positive so you can start the day on a positive note.

 

2. Know your limits and be realistic about what you can accomplish for the day.

 

3. Tackle your most unpleasant task first when you are fresh. This helps reduce your stress by getting it out of the way.

 

4.Take a timeout during the day whether at work or at home. Get some breathing space.

 

5.Change your normal routine. The abnormal routine will help you relax.

 

6.Prepare for tomorrow today. Make your lunch, pick out your clothes for work. Even write down a to do list for tomorrow.

 

7.Stop worrying about what you cannot change. Learn to accept things as they are.

 

8.Learn to say “no”. You can’t do everything.

 

9.Eating a healthy diet. Proper nutrition helps you cope with stress and helps you relax more.

 

10.Piggybacking of #9, back off the junk food. Sugars may be a quick rush of energy but it eventually goes away raising your stress level.
11.Try a good multivitamin. Some vitamins may help reduce stress and help you relax.

 

12.Drink more water. It helps cleanse the body of toxins and may help.

 

13.Do you drink a lot of caffeine? Well reduce your caffeine intake. Caffeine can raise your stress level and will help you relax.

 

14.Control the amount of alcohol you drink. Getting drunk may sound good for some people but doesn’t get the job done in the stress department.

 

15.Laugh for goodness sake!! Rent a comedy movie or something or hang out with someone who makes you laugh easy.

 

16.How are your circle of friends? Hanging out with positive people can really rub off on you.

 

17.If you have a pet, take him/her for a walk or better yet, play with your pet. Their enjoyment and appreciation for the extra attention you are giving will make you a happier person.

 

18.It’s not my thing personally but bubble baths will help you relax. The private time to yourself and the removal of the outside world for a while helps a ton.

 

19.Yoga has many benefits and reducing stress and helping one relax are a couple.

 

20.If you know what is stressing you out, GET RID OF IT!! This is the most practical solution but often looked over.

There are many more ways to reduce stress and relax. The most important thing to learn is to find something that works for you. Lowering your stress will help make you a more positive and productive person.
