Do You Play the Blame Game? Look in the Mirror
![]()
Many people want to look at others successes and failures and critique them. At the same time, they are the same ones who complain about their own situations. I cannot stand that one bit!
What I don’t get is they are so busy wasting time looking at others situation they don’t handle their own with as much effort. I always believed you are where you are because of you and no one else.
There may have been influences to steer you in certain directions in life, but still no one is to blame but you. At the same time when success fulfills your life, you are the one who earned it. An opportunity can slap you right in the face and if you are not looking for it, a chance to change your life can fly right by you.
Unfortunately, people do not like the truth because it hurts. They like to blame others so the heat won’t be on them. Readers of this article will say to themselves one of two things.
(1) “What in the hell is Physcodog talking about? He has no clue what my life is like, and my failures are not my fault. Because of ______ is the reason why I am not where I want to be in life today!”
Blaming others for your mistakes and downfalls is the easiest way out of not being accountable for where you are. These are the same people who if somehow achieved success, will take full credit. This is the safest way to reflect blame on others without a self evaluation. This form of thinking needs to change to number 2.
(2) “You know what? Physcodog is absolutely correct! The decisions I made yesterday are the reasons I am where I’m at today and the decisions I make from here on will determine where I will be tomorrow. I need to take a good look in the mirror and stop looking for scapegoats. What can I change today for a better tomorrow?”
If you are a #2 person, then you hear what I’m saying. If you are a #1 person, then you need to take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself, “how can I take control of my life?” If you are blaming others for your lack of productivity, lack of success, or whatever then you have no control over your life. All you are doing if you are a #1 person is setting yourself up for failure. You are not allowing yourself the opportunity to progress in the areas of life you are not happy about because you feel like everyone else is holding you back. This “me against the world” mentality can be very damaging and before you know it, it’s too late to recover.
# 2’s are very confident in their abilities and vision success in their future at some point. They are thinking about success even when they fail. While maybe not financially rich, # 2’s are definitely mentally rich people. If they are not happy with their jobs, they look for ways to fix their current situation or look for another job. Not happy with their finances? No problem to a # 2 because they will attempt to increase their income and lower their personal debt. Whatever the case may be, they attempt to progress over and over until they do and when they do, it is very fulfilling.
There is no room for placing blame and no excuses. There is always more than one solution to a problem. Whatever problem or situation you are in, you have to change your thoughts if you want to change it. Take control of your world and don’t let the world take control of you. So ask yourself are you a # 1 or a # 2 person?
